Aviation NDT Services is a Victorian based company that has been providing Non-Destructive Testing and inspection Services to the aviation industry throughout Australia, Asia and the Pacific for over 25 years. We have CASA approvals and Level II and III qualified technicians in all NDT methods. Inspections can be carried out in our facility located at the Melbourne Airport, or we have the capability of carrying out most inspections onsite.
Aviation NDT Services have Level II & III approved technicians capable of carrying out Non-destructive Testing inspections on all aircraft types and components, as described in Maintenance Manuals and Civil Aviation documents. We are a Cessna Citation Approved NDT facility. We have Teledyne Continental Crankshaft inspection approvals. Our capabilities include Level III oversight and Inspection Procedure development.
Eddy currentuses electromagnetic induction to detect flaws in conductive materials. Eddy-current testing can detect very small cracks in or near the surface of the material, the surfaces need minimal preparation, and physically complex geometries can be investigated. It is also useful for making electrical conductivity and coating thickness measurements.
Also called liquid penetrant inspection (LPI) or penetrant testing (PT), is a widely applied and low-cost inspection method used to locate surface-breaking defects in all non-porous materials (metals, plastics, or ceramics). The penetrant may be applied to all non-ferrous materials and ferrous materials.
Ultrasonic testing is a very short ultrasonic pulse-waves with center frequencies ranging from 0.1-15 MHz and occasionally up to 50 MHz are launched into materials to detect internal flaws or to characterize materials. The technique is also commonly used to determine the thickness of the test object, for example, to monitor corrosion. Ultrasonic testing is often performed on steel and other metals and alloys
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) process for detecting surface and subsurface discontinuities in ferrous materials such as iron, nickel, cobalt, and some of their alloys. The process puts a magnetic field into the part. The magnetic force may be applied using either alternating current (AC) or some form of direct current (DC) (rectified AC).
Aviation NDT Services was established in 1986 primarily to service the Australian industry performing regular inspections on aircraft. The company has since developed to cater for the growing needs of the aviation industry throughout Australia and the Pacific Islands.
Our CASA. accredited public testing laboratories are conveniently located at Melbourne Airport in the Melbourne metropolitan area. The laboratory is well established in servicing the aeronautical industry. The laboratory offers quick response and excellent turn around at very competitive prices. A full schedule of rates is available upon request. Highly experienced and formally qualified staff have been drawn from a diversity of industries to provide an excellent testing and advisory service to our clients. NDT technicians are qualified at AINDT level(s) for inspection work performed.
The majority of non-destructive testing activities are mobile and can be conducted in the field or on site in our customers workshops/premises. Aviation NDT Services are a quality service provider supported by our extensive capability as accredited by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), for the NDT inspection of civil aircraft and components.
Radiography of 'X-Ray' is a nondestructive testing method of inspecting materials for hidden flaws by using the ability of short wavelength electromagnetic radiation to penetrate various materials.Either an X-ray machine or a radioactive source can be used as a source of photons
